Hahaha!

Very odd and yet kid-friendly this time!

I love your graphic style. It's pretty unique, and your animation is nice and smooth.

The dialogue is hilariously deranged, and the voices are great.

The music also does a nice job of under-toning the bizarre nature of this submission.

Good job!

A touching tribute ruined by a dumb epilogue

This submission, minus the dumb cartoon at the end where a stickman pilots a jet into Osama, was a pretty good tribute to those who died, those who risked their lives and died for others, and those who survived the devastation.

The end cartoon was out of place, in that it was light-hearted on such a heavy subject. It didn't seem to gel with the rest of the submission, and should have been left out. Can you imagine showing that last piece to anyone who was permanently scarred by the destruction of that day?

Fixed the little cartoon at the end.... Now, you can either replay or watch the cartoon.

Not very funny

Most of these seemed to rely on the calm-then-SHOCK formula, which wasn't used to good effect.

The only thing I found funny was the sword falling in Link's face, which I found to be a humourous parody of the Zelda games.

You need to make each joke more clever, like the Link one. You can't just give a gun to a character who would never usually use a gun and expect people to be in hysterics when someone gets shot.

The rest of the skits were pretty dumb.

At least you thought one was good.

Terrible!

This is complete crap.

Tips:

1, Lose the robot voice. It is the most annoying voice in the entire world, excepting the voice of Mary Hart from Entertainment Tonight.

2, Make the voice talk FASTER. It was so freaking slow I felt like shooting someone.

3, The author's comments has most of the text from the cartoon, so what's the point? It is clear that you could have said what you wanted to with a post on the BBS. A flash movie was not needed.

4, Try to occupy the viewer's gaze. Staring at txt that is being read out very slowly is boring. You should have included more graphics to make things visually interesting.

5, Make sure the movie is actually good before you upload it onto Newgrounds. Try showing it to friends or family, or even other NG users you know.

6, Pick a topic that is interesting. Nobody cares about how NG received New Numa.

Hoogiman responds:

Yeah, I know the idea is absolutely stupid. In fact, I have absolutely no idea why I did this. I have made some movies with a story and stuff. See: 'Monkey Removal Man'.

But I'm just a bored kid with a computer. And I also think I'm an attention whore.

Animation will "rise again"?

I wasn't aware that the human race had completely abandoned animation, this site being exhibit A in my case.

If you mean "creative animation", I must again differ. Creative animation is done on a daily basis by studios and individuals.

You say that the intention of this animation is to move animators (stick animators specifically) on to bigger and better things, to be more creative. Although the animation quality itself is good in your offering, there was nothing displayed here that really pushed the envelope.

Every single scenario has been done before in some form, and each technique or style has predecessors to point to.

In your push for stick animators to be more creative in their works, you haven't set much of an example.

It may feel like I am slamming your submission, but I am really taking issue with what I think is a pretentious facade that you invented in your minds. This submission is not really bringing anything new to the audiences of Newgrounds, and because of that, any hoped-for reaction to it (if there indeed is a reaction you are hoping for) is not likely.

Smacks of try-hardiness!

What made the original popular was the fact that it was completely lame and perhaps even made by mistake without the knowledge of the "performer" (by leaving the web cam on and someone else recording it). Unfortunately, a lot of people were laughing at you, and not with you.

This new effort smacks of trying to be loved merely through recognition of the original.

It is not more funny or even merely AS funny as the original, and the production values are no better than any generic music video from the late eighties.

Perhaps you should have concentrated on making something that had nothing to do with Numa Numa? Or maybe faded from the limelight, content with all that had happened because of the original.

Don't feel down!

This is absolutely awesome.

Your attention to detail is great, and your art is amazing, if not AS refined as Adam Phillips' linework. But then again, he has had a lot more practice and used to work for Disney.

You have gotten very close to his greatness, but this submission should be allowed to stand by itself. It has it's own grandeur.

It should make it to the front page and get lots of views. Be happy!

P.S. I know everyone else is telling you this, but a backing track would be nice for the main part of the toon, and if you want sound effects, try out findsounds dot com.

Heng on a munute!

I think you should have named this

NEW ZEALANDERS...

IN...

SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!!!

Voice-acting could have been better, but the audio quality was nice and clear, and I love how you retained your real accents instead of "americanising" yourselves.

Some good action sequences and graphics. Great job on another quality submission.

LogFish responds:

Heh yea dog, you should check out the reviews of the first episode, I was getting SLAMMED about the accent, but hardly anyone gives a crap anymore and some people like it! I'm glad I didn't, I don't feel like I've sold out at all like I would have. I knew people would get over it! Now I just have to somehow inform people that it isn't a british accent, sigh...

Boy hates ads. Runs.

Whoa, like, deeeeeeeep man.

Animation was pretty good, and the sync to the song was alright. The music was a good choice too.

The message, (as I understood it), was too generic and regurgitated to make any kind of impact on me.

Commercials lie to us? No way! We have allowed companies to tell us who we are and what will make us happy? Really?!

It feels like this has all been said before, and you haven't really made any new insight.

But this was still an enjoyable piece of animation. Please don't feel like I'm bashing your cartoon!

"Hilarity ensues"????

Oh dear! This was not very funny at all. I liked the intentional cheesyness, but it wasn't laugh-out-loud funny. All of the jokes are pretty weak and too similar to ones that have been done many times before (not in subject, but in structure).

In a parody, it is not enough to merely criticise the dubious situations and scenarios of the game ("why didn't I just use the chainsaw I picked up earlier?"), you must come up with funny ways of criticising it. In this respect, I think you failed.

The animation itself was pretty good. The subtitles were not needed and were a distracting inclusion. The sound quality is good enough that you don't need to use them. Especially not for sound effects.

This deserves a 3/5 (nearly a 4/5).

I think the others on NG have gotten a little too excited about this cartoon.

People think this is a useless review!
