Funny, but needs some more work

The lip-sync is absolutely shocking. It was like watching a badly dubbed Japanese monster movie. The graphics were good, and the animation was fine.

The American Jerk had some funny bits. The annoying lip-sync issue slowed things down considerably, though. I would be staring at a mouth moving for 10 seconds after the voice had stopped. See if you can fix this.

Not thrilling

The first part was good with the backstory of the Dragon and the tunic. But from the psycho shower scene onwards, the jokes were dumb and had bad timing. Animation was okay.

Oh yeah, and I don't know WHO started this trend (I'm looking at you, Legendary Frog) but please, please, PLEASE lose the unnecessary subtitles. It's distracting and contributes to bad comedic timing and makes the joke too obvious. If people can read the joke before it's done, it loses some of its shock effect, which is important in humour.

It's like you've permanently enabled "English subtitles for the hard of hearing". Do we need a description of every single sound effect? Most people can hear them. That's why we have speakers. Please make this feature optional in the future, if you decide to include it at all.

Also, I know that the subtitles themselves are tempting to make fun of (e.g. *hardcore fighting sounds*), but trust me on this:
Subtitle humour has been done to death, and is no longer as fresh and funny as it might once have been.

Sorry about the angry nature of this review. I'm just sick of the same tired LegendaryFrog-esque humour that seems to be so popular on Newgrounds. As I said, I liked the first part with the absurd dragon thing.

Why is it one little thing happens everyone always has to point their fingers at Legendary Frog to blame?

I'm not a fan of the guy but just because I don't slap blood , killing, excessive swearing, and dick and fart jokes into a movie doesn't make me Legendary Frog. Oh yeah and Legendary Frog didn't invent lame humor. Crediting him with that is idiotic.

I added subtitles in case maybe if somebody has no speakers (i.e. if you're on a school computer) they usually never have speakers. Giving that credit to Legendary Frog is also idiotic.

Subtitle humor? Where? I don't know what "Subtitle" humor is. What? That the dragon's talking in his dragon language was translated? Because I don't see that as subtitle humor. I see that as translating speech with subtitles.

Wait... now reobserving your review you say "subtitles themselves are tempting to make fun of (e.g. hardcore fighting sounds*)" Um, that's making fun? Seems more like subtitling sound effects. If this is what you're getting at as "Subtitle" humor, than you need to buy a book and read up on what is and is not humorous.

Every line uttered in ths movie are the only lines I wrote in the bar is said inside this movie. Except for the dragon speech which was simply translated and for the subtitles which were mentioned. And the comment above seemed like the reviewer had nothing else to say so took your review.

Pfft. "Subtitle" humor.

Ponderous, cliched and badly acted

The animation was kinda jerky. I know it's not the anime style to animate things a whole bunch, but I think you can do better. Up your frame rate to at least 12 fps and use all of them to make your motion more fluid and believable.

Like most anime I've seen, the art style really grated against me. I just hate that style of drawing. They all have the same stupid triangular nose, and eyebrows/eyelashes that are drawn over the top of the hair running down their face.

The story was vague, ponderous and riddled with cliche... Again, just like most anime. With cliched dialogue, it is hard for the voice actors to sound serious about what they are saying. Viewers just won't buy into your fantasy, and that hurts the cartoon.

The acting is pretty bad. It seems like it is done by teenage guys who are making their voices deeper in a vain attempt to sound like big muscle-bound men with fat necks.

Sorry if this feels like I'm dumping all over you. Just take this as constructive criticism, and allow it to build you up, not tear you down.

I believe you make better flash than this. You just need to spend more time on it and avoid the many pitfalls of bad anime.

Okay, but not great

The artwork is pretty nice. The landscapes and battle scenes are particularly good. I don't like the eyes you have on the sticks, though.

This piece had no animation at all, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Seeing as this submission has gotten a high score from users, I was expecting something more than a slideshow.

The narrator had a good, clear voice, but the speech she was giving was filled with ponderous and cliched words/phrases, and her acting wasn't that good.

3/5 (almost a 2)

Way too long and not enough variation

First of all, let me say that each one of you is good at animating sprites, and you have done an excellent job on each individual piece.

Having said that, I only enjoyed this cartoon for a little while. After several minutes, I began to wish that it was over already. Too many pieces were accepted into this collab. It should have been edited intelligently and made much shorter to keep viewer attention, because I was drifting off near the end there.

Most of the pieces were pretty much the same: Character beats up a defenseless and inanimate (yet annoyingly invincible) sand bag.

After I got bored watching the same thing happen over and over, only twice was my attention peaked...

Once near the end when the sand bag started fighting back, and when Wario FINALLY killed the little bugger.

I'd also like to bring attention to how the music did not fit the toon very well. There seemed to be two very long tracks that played over the entire thing. Individual music would have been better, as there were periods when there was a conspicuous absence of music, and at other times the music ran over already existing music (e.g. the tetris bit).

I applaud each individual artist's effort, but the way this collaboration was put together made it a little disappointing.

Pretty boring!

The animation is good, and the graphics are good too. But I don't think there is enough entertainment value here that warrants an entire cartoon to be made.

Final Fantasy parodies. I must say, I don't give a damn. Firstly, turn-based fighting has always been a pet peeve of mine. I find it so boring that you have to stand there and it is up to chance whether or not you get hit by your enemy. Where is the skill?

So, I do not enjoy turn-based fighting games. Even less did I enjoy this cartoon about turn-based fighting games. I mean, I don't even get to control anything, so it's even more boring. The only way for it to be entertaining is if you go BEYOND what the game offers. Either, you go for very exciting action that the games do not have, OR you include jokes. The latter seems to me to be the route you took.

Unfortunately, the only thing that was funny were the giant stomping cats in the background.

I'm pretty disappointed with this, and don't see what the fuss is about.

3/5 for the good graphics and animation. The story was pointless and unfunny.

It has its moments....

But making it to the second place of the Top 50 of all time list?

People must be starved for entertainment.

Sorry, this is not a criticism of you, the author. It is more a criticism of the people on this site. Some things in your toon were amusing... but it is not Top 50 material, and there are a lot of submissions that are far more funny.

So in summary, it's a little bit of fun, but it has been majorly overated.

P.S. Thanks so much for getting that bloody theme song into my head!

GO GO POWER RANGERS! YOU MIGHTY MORPHIN' POWER RANGERS!

A slow slideshow with nothing interesting to offer

Sorry, this was boring. I closed it before watching the whole thing.

Try MUCH harder to make something that is better than a slow slideshow of pictures, please. And if it's just going to be a slideshow, make it quick and to the point.

Crap!

I get your humour, I just think it's dumb.

The drawings are alright, but presenting it in comic form was annoying (because I had to click every few seconds) and it is just really lazy. Animation is much more effective anyway, so animate it!

The story wasn't really engaging. Try harder please!

Could have been better

Some funny points to it, but I think you could have worked on the script for longer to make it really funny. It has potential.

The graphics aren't too crash hot, but they get the scenario across. You could have worked on these for longer too.
