A surrealistic tour de force. Bobby Kennedy would be proud.

BillyNapalm responds:

Thanks for watching!

Beautiful. Was giving me that Neverending Stoooorryyyyyyy vibe.

It was an okay idea, but I don't think you really went as far as you could have with the comedy. I feel like you thought to yourself "What if the ponies in The Hobbit were My Little Ponies?!" and then left it at that without exploring what jokes you could get out of that idea e.g. how the journey would be different, what obstacles would be harder (or easier).

veselekov responds:

I actually went off the scene before the trolls. Thorin tells fili and kili to go watch them. But because of all that has happened at recent with mlp and stuff while watching it I imagined them as mlp ponies.

I didn't really like this thing. The jokes were pretty lame for the most part, but the part where Raven is tied up in a basement awaiting imminent rape... just left a bad taste in my mouth. ZONE-tan just sits there making glib jokes about the supposed entertainment that will come from the rape, and I guess I'm meant to find that funny. But it was really just an uncomfortable watch.

This is... pretty terrible. No real animation, boring visuals, and robot voices.

This cartoon just seems mean-spirited for no reason. There's nothing funny on offer here, not even a stereotype I can recognise and laugh at. Just a general "Minecraft players are nerds and losers and they are stupid for fake reasons I'm making up right now" vibe, and of course, no mean-spirited non-parody is complete without saying someone is gay. Just scraping the bottom of the comedy barrel here.

Wasn't my cup of tea

Hi, I want to be polite with the way I say this:
I don't think the comedy works very well in the cartoon. I get that it's improv style, but I don't think there was anything in this piece of improv worth animating. The humour just fell flat with me. Maybe other people like it, but it's just not for me.

Animation and illustration style is fine. Perhaps be more discerning with the improv recordings you take to flash, as I usually enjoy your work. You're talented at what you do :)

George Lucas Special Edition of Annoying Orange

A good parody comedy mocks the original in a satirical fashion, but this was just pretty much the same set-up as The Annoying Orange + swearing and blood. This cartoon has no satire; it's a George Lucas Special Edition of The Annoying Orange.

It's not like Annoying Orange is unable to be parodied. There is plenty to criticise, e.g. the transformation of what seemed to be a funny one-off video, into a catchphrase-driven, cameo-drenched, unfunny series. But there is no such criticism in this parod; Just vulgarity in the hope of gross-out laughs, and the addition of blood, which didn't change the severity of the original's "knife" ending one bit.

psychicpebbles responds:

This was written about a year ago very quickly, and the audio was done at the same time. I didn't touch this project for about a year and just about a week ago gutted the storyboard and animation and started from scratch. I didn't want to rewrite and rerecord the cartoon, so I just got this done as fast as possible.

I completely agree, there is a lot I could have done with it, and there's a lot I did want to do with it but couldn't due to time constraints, etc.

I appreciate the honest review, thanks.

Great to see Central in cartoon form!

I loved the concept. I can't say I've ever been accosted by pamphlet people at Central, but I have had this kind of experience elsewhere.

I think the voice actor(s) could benefit from sounding more Australian, though. You seemed to be veering into English territory, and this may have more to do with (unintentionally) imitating English comedians than anything else.

It's a problem I share. When I try to do a regular Australian cartoon voice, it either ends up like something from Yoram Gross, or like a cockney accent. It's hard to keep natural when there aren't very many Australian voice actors to learn from.

hozaah responds:

I find that kinda funny when i am actually australian, and that was my normal voice :P

"I never want to see Mike again"?

More like "I'm reporting Mike to the police".

I think I liked the non-sequiter at the end more than the rest of the cartoon. That was a good laugh.

I did enjoy the girl's anxious face during the movie scene, though. Expertly drawn facial expression, showing the conflict between trying to be polite and inwardly wanting to run away.

MiddleFingerRings responds:

Hah, thanks a lot. Yeah, the ending scene is a kind of running joke I've had with some friends for a few years, so I threw it in with the cartoon.

I do love facial expressions; I find them to be the funniest thing in comedy, often.

Obvious jokes, but good production values

I feel like it's all been done before. All the jokes here are obvious to anyone who plays minecraft, and are in every single minecraft flash because they are so obvious. Yes, it's weird that you can punch the wood out of trees. Yes it's weird that gravity doesn't work the way it should. It's time to move beyond the obvious.

It's a shame I couldn't enjoy the jokes, because the sound and animation are quite nice.

People think this is a useless review!
